I build and direct AI products, and for the last three years that has meant BrewAI, the startup I co-founded. I've owned its technical vision from first prototype to an Innovate UK iCURe and EIT-backed platform: AI-powered digital twins that let brewers simulate, optimise and decarbonise their operations. I made the architecture calls, picked the stack, and wrote a good share of the code.
Cars are the other constant. I directed multinational projects for automotive OEMs before academia, I've driven electric for 13 years, and I've spent six of those as a Director of Tesla Owners UK. I've written over 500 articles on automotive innovation and greentech, contributed to nationally covered EV surveys, and made more than 30 appearances on UK TV and radio explaining the transition to electric transport, most recently on the BBC discussing Aston Martin's strategic challenges. Through ARU's £10.2m Eastern New Energy programme I worked on EV adoption, charging infrastructure and green supply chains across the East of England. The problems I most want to work on next sit exactly there: digital twins and applied AI for mobility, energy and the EV transition.
Academia is where I sharpen the thinking. I'm a Senior Lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University, writing my PhD on the twin transition in brewing: how an industry digitalises and decarbonises at the same time, and what that reveals about how organisations respond to technological disruption under environmental pressure. It feeds directly into my teaching in project management, operations and supply chain, though I'm less interested in frameworks for their own sake than in what actually happens when projects meet reality.
I also can't stop building. Ship My Dissertation, an AI-powered project management tool for undergraduates, is the current side project.
MSc in Computer Science, Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Member of the British Computer Society, and a STEM Ambassador since 2012.
If you're building at the intersection of AI, digital twins and mobility, or you need technical direction from someone who genuinely lives in the EV world, I'm always up for a conversation.
